New Media Rights ( http://newmediarights.org )

New Media Rights a completely free, non-profit legal resource for filmmakers, new media journalists, and business startups that has no commercial motivations.

Unlike most organizations that only provide referrals or education, New Media Rights actually provides one-to-one legal assistance which includes drafting and reviewing documents and advocating on behalf of these individuals and businesses (all completely free).

People are generally astounded that the organization can help them for free when normally these types of legal services cost $250-$500 an hour. Since it is a small efficient organization as well as a non-profit, overhead and administrative costs are much lower than firms.

That said, there are costs and the organization is always seeking donations to continue its work. http://newmediarights.org/donate

http://www.tripurafoundation.org/

Tripura Foundation focuses programs primarily in India, in addition to operating smaller, targeted programs in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

"Our Mission

For nearly 20 years, Tripura Foundation has been committed to providing holistic upliftment and HoPE to the poor. From the destitute on the streets, to children from broken homes, to entire communities living in deprivation- we provide healthy food, transformative education, health checks, lovely shelter and most importantly, loving support for the poor to lead a fulfilling and empowered life.

We believe that an end to human suffering can only be achieved through sustained, innovative programs that combine basic humanitarian needs with tools & skills for personal & community development.

To help improve the quality of life for the poverty stricken, we have developed a three-pronged approach to service. First, we recognize the need to provide people with basic necessities such as food, clothing and shelter. Then we must provide education to nurture their awareness, creativity and capability to create a brighter future for themselves. Finally, we must provide income opportunities to improve their standard of living. In this way, we can help people to exit the vicious cycle of poverty that has ensnared their lives.

We accomplish our mission by partnering with leading corporations, NGO’s, universities and governments to deliver joint programs and ensure sustainable change.

History

Tripura Foundation was founded in 1989 and is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. The founder of the organization, Dr. Baskaran Pillai, felt the need to create a service organization that would alleviate the suffering of people living in abject poverty; those who experience the most severe forms of limitation.

Tripura Foundation's work is made possible by the generosity of donors, foundations, volunteers and friends - all joined together in the spirit of selfless service."

Artists Speak Out http://artistsspeakout.com

Artists Speak Out has a five-fold mission. To provide:

- News and views about artists and writers fighting for human rights and people fighting for artists’ rights.

- A forum for artists and writers who care about human rights to discuss issues and undertake actions.

- Vocal and concerted advocacy on behalf of artists whose human rights are being abused through campaigns using letter-writing, electronic media and petitions.

- Advice and counsel to artists about how to find opportunities to champion human rights causes through their work and to improve their social-consciousness profile.

- A space in which the work of artists and writers involved in the struggle for human rights can be shared and celebrated.

INSE: International Network of Social-Eco Entrepreneurs (7,500+ members from five continents). http://inse.biz

INSE is a global organization whose mission is to provide business education to entrepreneurs worldwide and inspire them to work collaboratively toward the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) thru the adoption of the triple bottom-line: People-Planet-Profits – this is being promoted globally, showing the world that "Capitalism with a Conscience", or "Spiritual Capitalism" is the next vital stage in our evolutionary process. We strongly feel that this is the most appropriate remedy to the biggest global challenges threatening humanity and the planet: extreme poverty, destruction of the environment, lack of education, terrorism, disease and other issues affecting millions.

Our motto: "Fostering Connections to Pursue Business Endeavors with Social and Environmental Benefits".

Spark <a href="http://www.sparkprogram.org" rel="nofollow">www.sparkprogram.org</a> <a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/SparkProgram" rel="nofollow">http://www.youtube.com/user/SparkProgram</a>

Spark’s mission is to provide life-changing apprenticeships to youth in underserved communities across the United States.

30% of students in the United States drop out of high school every year, averaging 7,000 every day. Among students in the highest need neighborhoods across the United States, the dropout rate exceeds 50%. This is one of the greatest social justice issues of our time.

Spark addresses the dropout crisis by connecting volunteer professionals with underserved youth in workplace apprenticeships to “spark” their potential. Students identify a “dream job,” and Spark matches that student with a mentor doing that job. These apprenticeships are complemented by a Leadership Class, which helps students connect apprenticeship learning to school. As students explore the school-to-career connection, they build skills critical for academic success, gain a strong appreciation for the relevance of their education, and become motivated to work hard to achieve their dreams.

Spark is a national organization that provides life-changing apprenticeships to middle school students from disadvantaged communities in an effort to empower them to succeed in their education and beyond.
